Remembering the real reason

While thinking about all the things that still need to be done before Christmas I found myself also remembering the real reason we celebrate this Christmas season. That is the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What an awesome gift our father gave us and at the time, few really knew . I am blessed because I grew up knowing that at Christmas we celebrate Jesus' birthday but would Joseph and Mary have been treated differently in Bethlehem had all the people known she was carrying and soon to give birth to a king? Would the Inn keeper have made special preperations for their stay? Would the people who met them along the way paid closer attention to them, even if it were only to say they met the mother of the soon coming messiah? Would more people have gathered at the stable that night when she did give birth? I would say the answer would be yes but that is just my opinion. I believe God had everything planned just the way he wanted it to be though. No fancy things{because after all things are just ...things} A new mother that was most likely very humble and a loyal husband that stood by her side regardless of what others thought and would be put in charge of raising the most amazing man to ever have lived. The Bible doesn't mention Joseph much after the birth of Jesus and I wonder sometimes if he was at the crusifiction....it only mentions Mary being there of the two.
I never want to forget that this season is a season of love and celebrating a gift that would help us have the opportunity to have eternal life in Heaven. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the king. * Luke 2:11* And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and layed him in a manger: because there was no room for them in the inn. * Luke 2:7*
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem Judea in the days of Herod the King, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem
Saying , Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen the star in the east and are come to worship him. *Matthew 2: 1-2
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him; and when they had opened their treasures , they presented unto him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh. *Matthew 2: 11*
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. *Luke 2:18-19*
What a wonderful thing to celebrate......
