Mt. Magazine getaway......

This past weekend we went to Mt. Magazine for a few days of camping{before it gets too hot-I don't do sticky hot buggy camping }. Our campsite was very nice, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Not too hot or cold although I did get chilly when the wind was blowing but that is nothing unusual for me. No Mosquitoes!!!! YAY!!!
We also did quite a bit of hiking..I love to hike and they had some pretty nice trails there. They were for the most part easy walking trails. Lots of beautiful views of the mountains and lakes. We usually don't end up getting to spend a lot of time together as a family due to schedules and running every direction so this was nice for us. Bree on the other hand got a little/lot bored pretty quick when we weren't busy doing something. Usually when we go to Colorado or anywhere out west camping they have game rooms or pools or something to keep the kids occupied and there was none of that at Mt. Magazine and we didn't take anything either.
All in all it was a great little getaway but I think 2 days at that park was long enough to see about all of it.......maybe we will venture out again this summer since we are not planning an out west vacation{whah!!!} like we usually do.........
Here are some pics from our little trip.....
The highlight of Brees trip was getting to see her boyfriend on our way home......aren't they cute together? This little guy caught Brees attention on the last hike of the trip on North Rim trail
falling !!!!!!! ???????? nope =) just playing!!!!!
last hike.....north rim trail..... Morning hike to sunrise point{we missed the actual sunrise by a little bit but it was still pretty.}
Sunrise from sunrise point Breakfast at camp after morning hike.......
just relaxing at camp......I am enjoying it....Bree is NOT!!!!
Highest point in Arkansas........
butterflies were everywhere in the park but really busy on this trail.......late afternoon
the book I took to read... so good!
Sunset at Mt. Magazine...................... more butterflies.......this was the most popular kind.....but there were lots of others.....they just didn't slow down much
This is a broad headed skink they said....I call it a lizzard
not a ballerina.....just balancing on the highest point for a picture!
Lake view from look out point
Yes.......I let her play in the road!!!! But only for a picture........
Park entrance........
This happy little sign was across the road from our campsite........ doesn't give me a very cozy feeling so I had everyone sleep in the center of the tent the first night!!!! {there is just something about waking up with a bear nawing on my HEAD that wouldn't feel right} But then we found out that there had only been 2 actual bear attacks or sightings in the park.....can't remember which, but we {I} was much calmer the second night.......
Just thinking and soaking up the beauty........
just waiting to have it's picture taken.........
Beautiful gazebo......and view......
And this is how we take pictures!!!!! =)
{yes, I know...I have dirt on my lens somewhere but I can't seem to find it}
my brave hikers........that really is a LONG way down on the other side!
Such a fun time!!!!! And I didn't edit any of these picture{except the one of Bree and Dalton} because I didn't really want to take the time because I am officially on summer break and there are so many other things that need to be done!!!!
Cancace update: Candace went to the Dr. this mornig supposing to have another ultrasound to see if Jaycie has turned and if not they were supposed to be taking her early this week..... NO ultrasound today, but Dr. says she is starting to turn some now and is doing good so he is not going to do the C-Section right now but does have her scheduled delivery date set for June 19th.........Thank you everyone for your prayers. We appreciate them very much and even more so are blessed that God has heard and answered and the baby is turning on her own so she doesn't have to arrive too early...........

MEN ARE JUST HAPPIER PEOPLE!
NICKNAMES:~If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah.~If Mike , Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.
EATING OUT:~When the bill arrives, Mike , Dave and John will each throw in $20, even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back.~When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators!
MONEY:~A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs..~A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale!
BATHROOMS:~A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel .~The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items!
ARGUMENTS:~A woman has the last word in any argument.~Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.
FUTURE:~A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.~A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
SUCCESS:~A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.~A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
MARRIAGE:~A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.~A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.
DRESSING UP:~A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the trash, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail.~A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.
NATURAL:~Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.~Women somehow deteriorate during the night.
OFFSPRING:~Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.~A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY~A married man should just forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
{this one really made me stop and laugh!}
Now wasn't that worth reading?
I hope yall have a wonderful and very safe Memorial Day!

Candace.......

I have been wanting to take pictures of Candace and her little growing belly for a while but she works so much so it's hard to find time when she can go but we did for a little while yesterday. Our plans were to go to Cooper but they had all the trails closed since the prison workers were cleaning up{and they really do a good job!} so we ended up at the river because Kayden fell asleep so we couldn't wander very far from the car. We are going to try again soon to get some with Kayden so I will post them when I do........
in her favorite color"Orange"
Just a few to share......hopefully she won't have Jaycie before we can get some more =)

Happy Mother's Day......

The Teacher
Into the woman's keeping is comitted the destiny of the generations to come after us. In bringing up your children you mothers must remember that while it is essential to be loving and tender it is no less essential to be wise and firm. Foolishness and affection must not be treated as interchangeable terms; and besides training your sons and daughters in the softer and milder virtues, you must seek to give them those stern and hardy qualities which in after life they will surely need.
Some children will go wrong in spite of the best training; and some wil go right even when their surroundings are most unfortunate.... Teach boys and girls alike that they are not to look forward to lives spent in avoiding difficulites; teach them that work, for themselves and for others, is not a curse but a blessing; seek also to make them happy, to make them enjoy life, but seek also to make them face life with steadfast resolution, and to do their whole duty before God and to man. Surely she who can thus train her sons and daughters is thrice fortunate among women.
~Theodore Roosevelt~
I enjoyed reading that so much I thought I would share it with all of yall.....hope you enjoyed it!

Outside my window...
there is a pair of old stilts that either need to find a new home or wait at the curb on Monday for the trash man! I am thinking...
I have to go back to Wal-Mart and get a birthday gift for tomorrow…… I am thankful for... the opportunity to be a mother, wife and Grammy From the kitchen... I can see my birdhouses on my deck…..the birds are building their nests to start their new families…. So fun! I am wearing... Jeans and long sleeve shirt {it WAS chilly this morning and now it’s not but I’m apparently too lazy to change} I am creating/making... a bed set for Kayden’s new Cars bed that is in his new home, which kinda makes me a little sad because now I won’t get to see him in the mornings before work{but I am very happy for Candace…. she has waited for a long time and now she has her own place }

I am going... to see my Mama tomorrow for Mother’s Day after morning service… I am reading... Wanda E. Brunstetter’s “ A Sister’s Hope” {almost done} I am hoping... that we have beautiful weather for Monday’s pictures with Jessica and her boys. I am hearing... the very quiet hum of my computer and the refrigerator…..

Around the house...

there is a lot of decluttering to do…… One of my favorite things... Colorado {of course!}

{church at Allenspark Colorado} A few plans for the rest of the week: back to work on Monday{13 days left!} , Bree’s first summer league softball game on Thursday…. Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Almost forgot.......

I almost forgot about posting this lil guy......I took his pictures several weeks back and have been so busy/sick/tired {mostly busy} that I haven't posted them.... But here he is and he is ADORABLE !!!!!!!
My summer goal is to get organized{I would say better organized but somehow I have lost my organizational skills here lately so I'm not even that organized at all lately} and to post quicker!!
We'll see how that goes...........
